I am always looking for motivated students and talented postdocs to work with me and colleagues in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Chile. Right now I am looking for students to start from April 2026.
Graduate Students (MSc & PhD)
Your research interests should align with one or more of the following areas:
- Algorithms & society — fairness, accountability, and societal impact of algorithmic systems
- Computational social science — modeling human behavior at scale
- Machine learning — interpretable models, decision trees, LLM-based methods
- Social computing — online experiments, recommendation systems, collective behavior
Interested students should email me with a brief statement of your research interests and how they align with the current and previous research in the lab. Please include your CV and any relevant academic transcripts.
Our department offers full-time research MSc and PhD programs and students can usually obtain funding through an ANID graduate fellowship. Depending on your academic record, we can also explore a broader range of funding options for MSc students.
Postdoctoral Researchers
If you are looking for postdoc opportunities and have a strong background in machine learning, computational social science, or algorithmic fairness, I would love to hear from you.
I may not have direct funding for a position, but we can write a postdoc research proposal together for ANID (Chile's national research agency). The funding rate is competitive compared to US and European-based grants.
